What Acudetox is

A five-point protocol with roots in recovery support

The NADA five-point protocol

The five-point ear acupuncture approach associated with Acudetox developed in the 1970s at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, where it was used within addiction and withdrawal support.

The same five auricular points are used in each session: Shen Men, Sympathetic, Lung, Liver and Kidney.

Simple, consistent & non-verbal

Very fine, sterile, single-use needles are placed at the five points in each ear. You remain fully clothed and sit comfortably while the needles are in place.

There is no pressure to talk during the treatment. You are welcome simply to sit, rest and allow the session to unfold, while your practitioner remains present throughout.

Support

How Acudetox may support you

People come to Acudetox for many different reasons. The protocol is used as supportive care and may sit alongside other appropriate medical, psychological or recovery support.

Stress, overwhelm & sleep

A supportive option for people navigating stress, anxious feelings, racing thoughts, disrupted sleep or periods of emotional overload.

Addiction & recovery support

Acudetox has deep roots in addiction and withdrawal support and may be used as part of a broader recovery programme, including support around cravings and emotional regulation.

Grief & difficult seasons

A supportive space for people moving through grief, loss, change, trauma or other challenging periods of life.

Acudetox is supportive wellness care and is not a replacement for medical, mental-health or addiction treatment. Individual experiences and responses vary.

What happens

What to expect during your session

You do not need to prepare a story, explain everything you are carrying, or know exactly what to say. The treatment itself is quiet and uncomplicated.
